PU meshes for screening abrasives

Screening of highly abrasive solids

Screening of abrading material

Abrasives such as corundum, silicon carbide, boron nitride or diamond are used for removing various materials. For this purpose, the abrasives are bound on a basis like sandpaper, grinding wheels, cutting disks or brushes.

The main task in screening is the clean separation of the sieved fractions according to the requirements determining the respective particle sizes. These are defined by norms of the FEPA (Federation of European Producers of Abrasives), the CAMI (Coated Abrasives Manufacturers Institute) or the ANSI (American National Standard Institute).

Screening of blasting abrasives

Mostly minerals and metallic bulk materials are used for surface treatment. Glass beads or corundum are very frequently used for blasting. Afterwards, they are cleaned from dirt in a screening process and reused.

PU mesh screens withstand the wear

Both abrasive materials have a sharp shape and are therefore extremely abrading. When choosing the right screening media this should be taken into account and special focus should be placed on resistance. The polymesh® polyurethane screen mesh are particularly wear-resistant and distinguish themselves by high efficiency and durability – even when screening abrasive materials.
